Wisecrackers

Wisecrackers is a comedy competition for young people in the South East organised by the Newbury Corn Exchange. 2008 was the second year the West Wing Art Centre took part, organising comedy workshops for schools across Slough with a professional comedy mentor. 60 young people took part in the project with Slough taking the 1st prize with 15 year old Faith Kulwali from St Josephs R.C High School taking the comedy crown in the 12 – 15 category.

“This is a great competition as it gives every student who takes part the chance to have a go at stand up comedy. It tests their resolve, improves their confidence and really makes them believe in themselves. It also uncovers hidden talents in some students who maybe hadn't been in the spotlight before, and that has to be a good thing.”  Paul B.Edwards - Mentor and Comedian
